From Port Angeles the mountain is due south and under nine miles away, so the question is the cloud base, not the distance. A deck below about 5,800 ft hides the top. Summer and early fall are the clear months. Winter storms put the ridge in cloud for days at a time.
Sequim sits in the rain shadow, with about 16 inches of rain a year to Port Angeles' 25, and is often clear when Port Angeles is under cloud. Port Townsend, Whidbey and Victoria look at the same north face from 30 to 40 miles, across the water, where haze counts for as much as cloud.
