I-35 runs from the Iowa border up through the Twin Cities to Duluth. I-94 crosses the state from the Wisconsin line through the Twin Cities and St. Cloud toward Fargo. I-90 runs the southern edge of the state, farm country from the South Dakota line to the Wisconsin line. US-2 and US-53 serve the north, and MN-61 hugs Lake Superior up the North Shore.
Blizzards and ice close I-94 and I-90 across the open south and west, and MnDOT posts no-travel advisories by county and closures by route on 511MN. In the metro the I-35 fork matters. I-35W runs through Minneapolis and I-35E through St. Paul, each with its own mile markers, so a report of a crash on 35 needs the letter. MnDOT publishes where its plows are in winter.
Over 25 daily snapshots from September 1 to 25, 2026, MileCheck's archive of the 511MN feed held 317 unique reports, including 62 closure reports, 49 crash reports and 192 work-zone reports. The routes with the most reports were US-169, I-35 and US-61. Counts reflect what the feed publishes, so a state whose DOT posts only closures shows only closures. Read the September Highway Report.

Closures the DOT has posted for a future date are listed as scheduled, and ramp and lane closures sit under the toggle so the list stays readable. It reloads every five minutes.
