I-80 crosses roughly 410 miles of northern Nevada, from the California line through Reno, Winnemucca and Elko to Wendover. US-50 runs about 400 miles across the middle of the state with towns an hour apart. US-95 links Las Vegas and Reno the long way, through hundreds of miles of open desert. I-15 carries the Las Vegas corridor between California and Arizona.
Nevada's hazards flip with the seasons. Summer heat punishes a stranded vehicle, and winter storms shut I-80 over the ranges and glaze US-50's summits with black ice. High-wind restrictions and closures come and go quickly on the open stretches, and NDOT posts every one by route and milepost. Between Fallon, Austin, Eureka and Ely there is no gas and often no signal, so the alert matters most before you leave the last town with services.
Over 25 daily snapshots from September 1 to 25, 2026, MileCheck's archive of the NVRoads feed held 351 unique reports, including 44 closure reports, 34 crash reports and 149 work-zone reports. The routes with the most reports were I-80, US-395 and US-50. Counts reflect what the feed publishes, so a state whose DOT posts only closures shows only closures. Read the September Highway Report.
The map above shows every full closure NVRoads is publishing as a red marker, crashes in orange, and weather and hazard alerts in blue and purple. Closures the DOT has posted for a future date are listed as scheduled, and ramp and lane closures sit under the toggle so the list stays readable. It reloads every five minutes. If the feed cannot be reached the page says so instead of showing an empty map. For the official list, open NVRoads.
