Each page reads the cloud ceilings at the airports between you and the summit, the cloud layers at the summit from the MET Norway model, and whether that cloud sits below the summit. Low cloud and high cloud are scored separately. A thin high layer and a low deck can both read as 60% cloud, and only one of them hides the mountain.
The forecast covers five days. The last two are drawn in six-hour steps, because cloud forecasts get less reliable further out.
Mountain Visibility launched on iOS in September 2026 and covers all 7 mountains. Readings come from your location or from a town you pick. Alerts are optional. Turn them on from the Now screen to get a notification when the mountain becomes visible and one before sunrise or sunset light, two a day at most and none at night. Turn them off any time. The alerts help with photography and with deciding whether to drive to a viewpoint.
