I-5 runs about 308 miles from the California border at the Siskiyous through Medford, Eugene, Salem and Portland. I-84 leaves Portland east through the Columbia River Gorge, climbs the Blue Mountains past Pendleton and La Grande, and reaches the Idaho line near Ontario at about mile 375. US-101 follows the entire coast, US-97 runs the length of Central Oregon through Bend, US-26 crosses Mount Hood at Government Camp, and US-20 crosses the state through Santiam Pass.
Oregon's closures are weather stories. East winds push freezing rain through the Columbia River Gorge and I-84 can close outright between Troutdale and Hood River. In the Blues, ODOT shuts I-84 between Pendleton and La Grande when winter crashes pile up on Cabbage Hill, the six-percent double hairpin around mileposts 216 to 224. Chains are required over the Siskiyous, Government Camp and Santiam Pass many times each winter, and TripCheck posts each one by milepost.
Over 25 daily snapshots from September 1 to 25, 2026, MileCheck's archive of the TripCheck feed held 535 unique reports, including 116 crash reports and 313 work-zone reports. The routes with the most reports were I-5, I-84 and US-101. Counts reflect what the feed publishes, so a state whose DOT posts only closures shows only closures. Read the September Highway Report.
The map above shows every full closure TripCheck is publishing as a red marker, crashes in orange, and weather and hazard alerts in blue and purple. Closures the DOT has posted for a future date are listed as scheduled, and ramp and lane closures sit under the toggle so the list stays readable. It reloads every five minutes.
