Duwamish bridges: 1st Ave S, South Park and Spokane St

The Duwamish carries working traffic, so the size limit for a rush-hour opening is 5,000 gross tons instead of the canal's 1,000, and the South Park Bridge needs 12 hours of notice at night. First Avenue South Bridge, South Park Bridge, Southwest Spokane Street Bridge.

First Avenue South Bridge

• Opens on signal for boats.
• On weekdays, except federal holidays other than Columbus Day, from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. it need not open, but it opens at any time for a vessel of 5,000 gross tons or more, a vessel towing one, or a vessel on its way to pick one up for towing.

South Park Bridge

• Opens on signal for boats.
• On weekdays, except federal holidays other than Columbus Day, from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. it need not open.
• From 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., every day, it opens if at least 12 hours' notice is given by telephone or VHF radio to the South Park tender. If emergency responders need an opening in those hours, it opens within 45 minutes of the call to the Fremont Bridge operator.

Southwest Spokane Street Bridge

• Opens on the signal of one prolonged blast followed quickly by three short blasts.
• The federal rule sets no closed hours for this bridge.
• Seattle publishes no live up or down status for this bridge.

The SW Spokane St swing bridge is the low bridge next to the West Seattle Bridge. When it is open for a boat the high bridge is the way across.
