Duwamish bridges: 1st Ave S, South Park and Spokane St

The Duwamish carries working traffic, so the size limit for a rush-hour opening is 5,000 gross tons instead of the canal's 1,000, and the South Park Bridge needs 12 hours of notice at night. First Avenue South Bridge, South Park Bridge, Southwest Spokane Street Bridge.

First Avenue South Bridge

• Opens on signal for boats.
• Weekdays 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. it does not have to open, except for a vessel of 5,000 gross tons or more, or a tug moving one.
• Federal holidays count as weekends, except Columbus Day.

South Park Bridge

• Opens on signal for boats.
• Weekdays 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. it does not have to open.
• From 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., every day, boats give 12 hours of notice. Emergency responders get an opening within 45 minutes.

Southwest Spokane Street Bridge

• The low swing bridge under the West Seattle Bridge. Opens on signal, one prolonged blast then three short.
• No rush-hour closure is written into the federal rule.
• Seattle does not publish a live status for this bridge. Check the West Seattle Bridge instead if you just need to cross.

The SW Spokane St swing bridge is the low bridge next to the West Seattle Bridge. When it is open for a boat the high bridge is the way across.
