I-95 crosses about 110 miles of Maryland, from the Washington area up through the Baltimore tunnels to the Delaware line. I-495, the Capital Beltway, and I-695, the Baltimore Beltway, run on inner loop and outer loop rather than compass directions. US-50 carries beach traffic east over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge toward Ocean City. I-70 and I-68 head west through Frederick and into the mountains of Western Maryland.
Maryland's weather trouble is spread out. Winter ice on I-68 and I-70 in the western mountains, summer thunderstorms that flood urban interchanges, and high winds on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that bring restrictions or full stops for high-profile vehicles. On a summer Friday the backup on the approach to the Bay Bridge is reported by milepost. CHART's cameras are live video, most tagged with route and mile.
Over 25 daily snapshots from September 1 to 25, 2026, MileCheck's archive of the CHART feed held 165 unique reports, including 159 closure reports, 2 crash reports and 1 work-zone report. The routes with the most reports were I-95, US-50 and I-695. Counts reflect what the feed publishes, so a state whose DOT posts only closures shows only closures. Read the September Highway Report.
The map above shows every full closure CHART is publishing as a red marker, crashes in orange, and weather and hazard alerts in blue and purple. Closures the DOT has posted for a future date are listed as scheduled, and ramp and lane closures sit under the toggle so the list stays readable. It reloads every five minutes. If the feed cannot be reached the page says so instead of showing an empty map. For the official list, open CHART.
