Highway mile marker data for all 50 US states
Every highway mile marker position we have in the United States, as CSV and GeoJSON files you run on your own systems. You pay one flat price a year, set by the size of your fleet. There are no API calls to count, and lookups work without a cell signal.
Counts are from the November 2, 2026 release.
What is in each row
One row is one mile marker. The route is the one a driver reads on the sign, like I-15 or US-89, not an internal agency code.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
id | A stable row id. It survives coordinate corrections, so you can match rows from one month to the next. |
state, country | Two-letter state code, and US. |
route | The signed route, for example I-15, US-89 or SR-201. |
route_alt | Other signed routes on the same pavement at that marker. |
agency_route_id | The agency's own route name, where it differs. Oregon highway numbers, for example. |
marker, unit | The number on the marker, whole or one decimal, and mi. |
direction | NB, SB, EB or WB where the state places a marker on each side of the road. |
lat, lon | WGS84, six decimal places. |
county | When the state supplies it. |
position_type | Whether the point is a surveyed sign or placed along the state's route line at that mile. |
source, source_url, license | The agency layer the row came from and its stated terms. |

- Kilometre markers for ten Canadian provinces and territories are available on request, in the same layout.
How you get it
- Delivered to your S3 bucket, or by a secure download link.
- One file per state and one national file, in CSV and GeoJSON.
- A full snapshot every month, with a change list naming the markers added, moved and removed since the last one.
- Corrections sent between snapshots when a state fixes its data.
- A manifest with row counts per state and SHA-256 checksums for every file.
