Decide whether you need the car there
Write down the trips you expect to make after arrival. A car for day trips is different from a car parked throughout a hotel stay. Include the hotel’s parking quote and any destination transport you would buy without it.
Check the road before setting a departure time
For the road option, check I-15 and Cajon Pass. Use conditions for the actual travel day. Do not build a flight comparison around an unverified four-hour drive.
Choose the actual starting address and Las Vegas destination. “Los Angeles” covers too much ground for one useful door-to-door estimate.
Compare the flight door to door
Check the day’s fare from the airport you would actually use to Las Vegas. Add getting to the airport, the airline’s check-in allowance, arrival transport and any checked-bag charge.
For the return, repeat the calculation. A low outward fare is not the total.
Divide only the costs you share
Call the complete driving cost D. Include fuel, parking, and any rental or one-way charge. For your own car, decide whether to include wear as well as immediate spending. Call each person’s complete flight cost F.

Choose using the return journey too
If driving leaves you exhausted for the trip home, change the departure or add a night before calling it cheaper. If flying still requires several days of rental and parking, put those costs back into the flight column.
For a bus, check the exact stops and current timetable. Do not assume it departs from your hotel or follows the same schedule every day.
