What app do truck drivers use for road closures?
There isn't one answer. Drivers use the state's own 511 app, a truck routing or parking app, or an app that pulls every state's DOT feed into one place. Each shows different things.
State 511 apps
The source. Each state has its own site or app, so a cross-country run means switching as you cross lines. See what is 511.
Truck routing and parking apps
These are built around truck routes, stops and parking. Whether they show the state DOT's own closure posts varies. We checked one in does Trucker Path show DOT 511 alerts.
Apps that combine state feeds
MileCheck reads the live DOT feeds from all 50 states plus British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba. It shows the closures, crashes, construction and chain controls each state reports on the road ahead, the mile marker you are at, and the nearest camera. It runs on CarPlay and Android Auto. It does not do truck routing.
