I-40 crosses the state west to east, Texas line through Oklahoma City to the Arkansas line, about 331 miles. I-35 runs south to north, Texas line through Oklahoma City to Kansas, crossing I-40 downtown. I-44 rides the Turner and Will Rogers turnpikes between Oklahoma City, Tulsa and the Missouri line. The turnpike network links the corners of the state on its own milepost lines.
Oklahoma sits in the heart of tornado country, and spring storms can put a highway driver in a dangerous spot with little warning. Trooper reports locate storm damage, debris and closures by mile marker. Ice storms and dust-driving winds round out the weather, and on the turnpikes exits can be far apart, so the service patrol asks for the turnpike's mile, not the interstate's.
Over 25 daily snapshots from September 1 to 25, 2026, MileCheck's archive of the OK Traffic feed held 56 unique reports, including 4 closure reports and 51 work-zone reports. Closures the DOT has posted for a future date are listed as scheduled, and ramp and lane closures sit under the toggle so the list stays readable. It reloads every five minutes.
