What peak amp rating do I need?
Around 1,000 peak amps covers most gas engines up to about 6.0 liters. Larger trucks, V8s, and diesel engines need a higher-rated unit, typically 2,000 peak amps or more.
How often do I need to recharge a jump starter?
Most hold a charge for months in storage, but check it every season — a dead jump starter in the trunk does nothing. Charge it fully before winter and again partway through if you haven't used it.
