What it does
MileCheck reads your GPS position and shows your nearest highway mile marker, interpolated between physical signs. If you're between MP 47 and MP 48, you see 47.3 — not just "somewhere around 47." The app displays your route, direction, and speed alongside the milepost.
The full milepost dataset — every interstate, US highway, and most state routes across all 50 states — ships bundled inside the Android app. There's nothing to download. There's no setup. When you enter a canyon, a tunnel, or a dead zone, the mile marker keeps working from the last known GPS fix.
Closures, crashes, construction zones, weather conditions, and chain requirements — pulled directly from state DOT APIs and updated every few minutes. Filter by type (closure only, crash only), by route, or by distance from your current position. GPS position is smoothed over three readings to reduce jitter. Accuracy depends on the underlying DOT milepost data for each state.
