Privacy Policy

Last updated October 17, 2026

This policy covers Mountain Visibility Forecast and its single-mountain editions, each named “Mt ___ Visibility Forecast” (together, “the app”). The app is published by MileCheck LLC and is sold on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It replaces the general MileCheck privacy policy for this app.

Summary

There is no account and no sign-in, and the app shows no ads. The only thing that leaves your phone about you is a push notification token, and only if you switch alerts on. Your location is used on your phone and is never sent anywhere. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

Who we are

MileCheck LLC publishes the app. You can reach us at mountains@milecheckapp.com.

What the app collects

Push notification token (only if you switch alerts on)

Settings has one alerts switch for each mountain. When you switch one on and allow notifications, your phone gives the app an anonymous push token. The app sends it to the server for that mountain, which runs on Cloudflare, along with the mountain you chose.

Notifications are delivered through the Expo push service and then through Apple or Google. They receive the token so they can deliver the message.

Purchase and install analytics (RevenueCat)

The app uses the RevenueCat SDK to confirm your purchase and count installs. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and device identifiers. It does not receive your name or email address. Apple and Google handle the purchase itself, and we never see your payment details.

Ordinary network requests

When the app loads a forecast it makes a normal web request to our server on Cloudflare. Like any web request, it carries your device’s IP address. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Location

If you tap “Use my location,” the app reads your location on your phone to pick the nearest mountain and the right region. The same applies if you sort viewpoints by distance. Your location is used on the device only. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

The 3D map

If you open the 3D map, the app contacts Mapbox to load map tiles. Mapbox receives your IP address and an anonymous device identifier. It does not receive your location. Mapbox’s own usage telemetry is turned off in this app.

Weather and camera data

The forecast comes from public sources. These include the NOAA Aviation Weather Center, MET Norway, the National Weather Service, USGS, the National Park Service, ODOT and Caltrans. The app’s own servers fetch this data. No user identifier goes with those requests.

What we do not collect

Saved on your phone

Anything you record in the app, such as what you actually saw out the window, stays on your phone. Deleting the app removes it.

Who receives data

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. These providers handle data only to make the app work.

Deleting your data

Switch alerts off in Settings and the token is deleted. You can also email mountains@milecheckapp.com and we will delete it. Deleting the app stops all collection.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. The current version is always at this address.
