Wolf Creek Pass carries US-160 over the San Juan Mountains at 10,857 ft. Here's what to watch, and when it bites.
Wolf Creek Pass gets more snow than almost any other Colorado highway pass, and CDOT closes US-160 here for avalanche control and storms several times most winters. The west side drops steeply toward Pagosa Springs with sharp curves, and the chain law is common in a storm.
The Wolf Creek Ski Area entrance is right at the summit, so weekend ski traffic and freight share the top of the pass. CDOT's cameras at the summit aren't in MileCheck's feed yet, so the map shows alerts, snow and plows.
The live map above shows closures and incidents on US-160 near the summit, from CDOT. See the Colorado road conditions map.
CDOT sets the traction and chain law on US-160 and posts it on signs and COtrip. It changes quickly in a storm.
The summit is 10,857 feet on US-160. Compare Monarch Pass on US-50.
The snow block above reads the USDA SNOTEL station at the summit, 10,930 feet, updated hourly. See the Wolf Creek ski page.
MileCheck shows your exact mile marker in real time as you drive US-160 over Wolf Creek Pass, plus the nearest camera and any alert on your route. Works offline and runs on CarPlay and Android Auto.
