Seattle Drawbridges · Last updated September 14, 2026
Seattle Drawbridges (“the App”) is made by MileCheck LLC. This policy says what the App collects, which is very little, and what happens to it.
Your privacy matters to us.
- No account and no login. The App never asks who you are.
- No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting.
- Your location stays on your phone. It is never sent anywhere.
- If you turn alerts on, the only things stored are a push token and the bridges you chose. Turning alerts off removes them.
- We never sell or share your data.
Your location is used on your phone to sort bridges by distance and to show you on the map. It is never sent anywhere. The App has no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. If you turn on bridge alerts, the App sends a push token, the bridges you chose and your alert settings to the MileCheck server so it can notify you; turning alerts off removes them. We never sell or share your data.
Information We Access
Location
With your permission the App reads your phone’s location to sort the bridge list by distance from you and to show your position on the map. Location is used on the device only. It is not stored, not logged and not transmitted. Every feature works without it.
Bridge data
The App fetches bridge status and opening schedules from the MileCheck API. Those requests carry an API key that identifies the App, not you. They do not carry your location or any identifier for your phone.
Push Notifications
Bridge alerts are off until you turn them on. When you do, the App registers with the MileCheck server and stores:
- a push notification token issued by Apple or Google through Expo’s push service, which lets us send a message to your phone and nothing else;
- the bridges you asked to be alerted about;
- your alert settings: whether alerts are on, any pause you set, and the “up longer than” threshold if you chose one.
The server uses this only to send the alerts you asked for. It is not linked to your name, email, location or any other information about you. Turning alerts off in the App removes the registration from the server. Uninstalling the App invalidates the token.
Push messages are delivered by Apple Push Notification service and Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, via Expo. Those services see the token and the message text, which names a bridge.
Settings
Your colour scheme, which directions app to open, and your alert choices are stored on your phone only.
What the App does not do
- No account, sign-in or email address.
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No analytics, no usage tracking, no crash reporting.
- No location history, on the phone or anywhere else.
- No sale or sharing of data with anyone.
Third-Party Services
- MileCheck API (operated by us, on Cloudflare) for bridge status and schedules, and for the alert registry described above.
- Expo push service, Apple APNs, Google FCM to deliver notifications.
- Apple Maps on iOS and Google Maps on Android to draw the map. Map tiles are requested by the map provider’s software on your phone under that provider’s privacy policy.
- Seattle DOT and the U.S. Coast Guard regulations are the sources of the data shown. They receive nothing from you.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Data Deletion
Turn alerts off in Settings to remove your push registration from our server. Delete the App to remove everything stored on your phone. There is nothing else to delete. If you want to confirm removal, email us.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the App will link to the new version.
